Human Rights, Sustainable Development and the Law – Biennial Global Online Symposium

The Sustainable Governance Theme at the Global School of Sustainability is co-sponsoring the Human Rights, Sustainable Development & the Law Biennial Global Online Symposium, taking place on 10 July 2026.
Convening leading academics, legal practitioners, policymakers and representatives from international organisations, the symposium will examine the role of law and governance in advancing sustainable development and protecting human rights. Discussions will address a range of contemporary challenges, including climate justice, sustainable business and finance, Indigenous rights, natural resource governance, and intergenerational equity, with a focus on legal and institutional responses that support the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The symposium reflects the Sustainable Governance Theme’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and dialogue on the governance frameworks needed to address complex global sustainability challenges.
