Professor Michael Zander KC, ‘Promoting Change in the Legal System – a Memoir’

We are delighted to invite you to a special event celebrating the 90th birthday of Emeritus Professor Michael Zander KC. The evening will feature a lecture by Professor Zander on “Promoting Change in the Legal System – a Memoir,” followed by a drinks reception.
About Emeritus Professor Michael Zander KC:
- Professor Zander retired in 1998 after a 35-year career at the Law School, including four years as Convenor (Dean)
- For 25 of those years, he was also The Guardian’s Legal Correspondent.
- He is the author of over a dozen books and more than 400 articles in legal journals.
- He is still active in writing and publishing.
- He was a member of the Runciman Royal Commission on Criminal Justice (1991-93).
- In 2015, he was honoured with the prestigious Halsbury Lifetime Contribution Award.
- The citation of his Honorary Degree from King’s College, London, stated: ‘He has devoted a long and active career to the study, teaching, practice, and improvement of the law, and has made outstanding contributions in both the academic and public spheres. The central mission of his professional life has been to make the justice system work better.’
The event will be chaired by Professor Conor Gearty , adding an extra layer of expertise and insight to the proceedings.
